Biofilter
A biofilter is a device for cultivating microorganisms that perform a specific task for us. Different types of organisms perform different tasks. The essence of designing and using biofilters is to create an environment that promotes the growth of the necessary organisms.
We use a biofilter to preserve and improve water quality in recirculation (RAS) systems.
Depending on the design and application, biofilters can perform the following functions, the first three functions are performed by biological means and the last four by physical processes that do not depend on living organisms.
-Ammonia reduction
-Nitrite reduction
-Reduction of dissolved organic matter
– Introduction of oxygen
– Reduction of carbon dioxide dissolved in water
– Removal of excess nitrogen and other gases
-Filtering suspended solids.
Our biofilter with a surface effect of 960nm2/m3, outstanding in Europe, can provide outstanding assistance in various aquacultures and water purification systems.
